What is First Tee — Central Ohio?
First Tee — Central Ohio is a great place for kids to learn positive life skills through the game of golf! Our goal is to make a fun, educational, safe and affordable program for kids and their families. Participants are introduced to an environment and curriculum based on First Tee's Nine Core Values. By participating in First Tee, young people are introduced to our core values, which are reinforced throughout the program. Parents are encouraged to reinforce these behaviors by talking about them, what they mean and what these behaviors look like at home.
First Tee — Central Ohio offers programs and instruction which focus on developing life skills using the game of golf as its vehicle.
How First Tee — Central Ohio Works
All new students ages 7-17 begin by enrolling in a PLAYer Level golf and life skills class. We hold classes four times a year at the beginning of each season. Our spring, fall and winter classes meet once a week for a 1.5-hour class for a total of 6 weeks. Summer classes meet once a week for a 3.5-hour class for a total of 9 weeks.

First Tee — Central Ohio Levels
Target Level is designed for beginners from age 5-6. It is not a required course and is intended to be a primer for the PLAYer Level.
PLAYer Level is the first step for new TFTCO students 7-17 years old. PLAYer introduces newcomers how to play the game of golf. Special emphasis is placed on learning golf and The First Tee Code of Conduct, appreciating the rules and etiquette of the game, as students develop their game in golf and life.
Students who complete the PLAYer level move on to the PAR Level. This level builds on the PLAYer level with continued exposure to the game of golf, focusing on two general life skills: Self-Management and Interpersonal Skills.
Students who complete the PAR level move on to the Birdie Level. This level centers around goal setting to provide participants a greater sense of purpose, direction, and motivation.
Students who complete the Birdie level move on to the Eagle Level. Eagle level is designed for participants who have demonstrated a commitment to both the game of golf and to attaining an associated set of life skills. These participants have demonstrated their ability to apply life skills, displayed a progression of golf skill acquisition and performance, and been a role model for The First Tee Code of Conduct.
Ace Level offers advanced, post-EAGLE instruction and practice in many of the life skills introduced in the PAR, BIRDIE and EAGLE levels. Ace focuses on personal planning and reinforces interpersonal communication, self-management, goal-setting, self-coaching and resistance skills that were applied in the earlier levels.
